Deligne-Lusztig theory and its \(p\)-adic analogue

Abstract

The classical Deligne-Lusztig theory provides a mighty geometric tool to construct representations of finite groups of Lie type (like, for example, \(\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{F}_q))\). In the first part of the talk I will review some basics of this theory and discuss an example. Then I will discuss an analogous geometric construction for \(p\)-adic groups, with a particular focus on the geometric properties of the resulting objects.
