Travel info for participants coming by plane
In most cases, there are good train connections between the airport where you have landed and the city of Nijmegen. Upon arrival at Nijmegen railway station, you can take a bus/taxicab bringing you to De Kentering or Rozenhof in 10-20 minutes, while you can walk in 10 minutes to Catharina or La Résidence.

We give train tables for the case you have arrived at Schiphol Airport (near Amsterdam). If you land at an airport in Germany, you can look up train tables at http://bahn.hafas.de or contact us.

Schiphol Airport -> Nijmegen railway station
In the heart of Schiphol airport there is a railway station: it is situated below "Schiphol Plaza" (the central hall of the terminal). The ticket-windows of NS (the Dutch Railway company) are situated in Schiphol Plaza. From Schiphol railway station you can take a train to Duivendrecht (trains with direction Amesfoort/Hilversum/Weesp/Groningen stop in Duivendrecht). In Duivendrecht you can pick a train to Nijmegen at the platform 8 which is `upstairs' (a direct train is running every half hour). The whole trip takes 1.5 - 2 hours.

Warning:
on Saturday July 7 and Sunday July 8 there will be no trains running between Arnhem and Nijmegen due to work on the railways. However, the Dutch Railway company (NS) will offer bus-transportation instead. The travel time will ca. half hour longer.

Nijmegen railway station -> your guest-house
If you are lodging in De Kentering or Rozenhof , then a bus or taxicab is the best means of transport.
Taxis can be found at your right hand side (if you leave the railway station via the main entrance; in any case it is the side where you see Hotel Mercure). If you have travelled by train, the Dutch railway company NS (=Nederlandse Spoorwegen) offers you the possibility to buy a "treintaxi biljet" (train taxi ticket) for ca. 10 guilders (ca. $ 4) which enables you to take a special taxi, called "treintaxi" (=train taxi). (The price of a regular taxi to De Kentering/Rozenhof is ca. 40 guilders). On presentation of your train ticket, you can buy the "treintaxi biljet" at the ticket-windows of a railway station (those of Nijmegen are open 8.00-23.00) or at the taxi. Also you can buy a treintaxi biljet together with your train ticket at Schiphol railway station. If not indicated by the word "treintaxi", these special taxis can be recognized by the NS-symbol:
symbol NS. If you see no "treintaxi", then you can press the button in the "treintaxi"-pillar which is near the taxis stand, to order one.

Buses can be found at your left hand side if you leave the railway station via the main entrance. Bustickets can be bought in the bus (ca. $2). If you intend to use the bus more than once or twice during your stay in the Netherlands, it is much more economical to buy a "15-strippenkaart" e.g. at the ticket-windows of the railway station (for more information on the use of bus-services in the Netherlands and of a "strippenkaart" see the other info).
For Rozenhof or Dekkerswald, you have to take line 5 heading for Groesbeek. It will have as its destination "Groesbeek-de Horst" or "Groesbeek-Bredestraat", in any case do not take line 5 with destination "Grootstal" or "Hatert". Line 5 runs every 15 minutes on Monday till Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sunday. A board containing the departure times is next to the ticket-windows inside the station. You can ask the bus driver to notify you when to get off for Rozenhof or Dekkerswald. For Rozenhof you get out at the bus stop "Rozenhof". For De Kentering you have to leave the bus at the bus stop "Dekkerswald" (that is the name of the Medical Centre which the Kentering belongs to). Enter the Dekkerswald area via the entrance gate and turn to the right at first cross-road (there are arrows indicating the direction for De Kentering). After some two meters there is a T-junction, turn there to the left: you can see on your right hand side a flat-like building which has the name "De Kentering" above its entrance.

For Catharina and La Résidence turn right upon leaving the station's main entrance and head for Hotel Mercure via the taxi-stands. (As always car drivers around the station can behave unexpectedly, so be careful). Just before hitting Hotel Mercure, turn left, thereby crossing the road and enter the street in front of you (so you now are walking in a direction more or less perpendicular to the railroad). This street is called "Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat", but at this point it lacks a name-plate. Anyway, the first visible house-numbers are 79 on the right hand side and 46 on the left hand side. The first cross-roads you meet is with "Vondelstraat" and there you can verify via the name-plate on the left side of the street that you are indeed walking in "Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat". At the second cross-roads you hit a major traffic road with traffic lights which is called "Graafseweg" (see the name-plate attached at a lamppost on the other side of the street); cross this road by means of the pedestrians' traffic light on the left. If you look at the name-plate above you on the lamppost before crossing Graafseweg, you can see that you are heading for "Stijn Buysstraat" which is a continuation of Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat. Stijn Buysstraat bends to the right after some hundred meters and its second side street on your right is the "Burghardt van den Berg straat" where La Résidence is located. Proceeding further "Stijn Buysstraat" also hits a major traffic road via traffic lights after some two hundred meters: this is "Sint Annastraat". Enter this street turning to the right: Catharina is 50 meters further on on your right hand side. Also consult the map that is available.

Travel info for participants coming by car
Directions to follow when you are near Nijmegen:
Centrum for Catharina .
Near the centre of Nijmegen you will enter a big traffic circle (diameter ca. 100 meters) with traffic lights (Keizer Karel plein). You have to take the exit for Groesbeek/Malden/Mook: this is "Sint Annastraat". Directly after the second cross-road you will see at your right hand side Catharina situated at the service road. There is parking space behind the hotel which you can see in the following map .
Centrum for La Résidence .
Near the centre of Nijmegen you will enter a big traffic circle (diameter ca. 100 meters) with traffic lights (Keizer Karel plein). Take the exit for Groesbeek/Malden/Mook: this is "Sint Annastraat". At the second cross-roads you turn to the right and enter "Stijn Buysstraat". (Actually, at this cross-roads there are two streets meeting Sint Annastraat from the right: one makes an angle of ca. 45 degrees with Sint Annastraat [Stijn Buysstraat] and the other has an angle of ca. 100 degrees with Sint Annastraat, but you have to do your best to take the wrong street here). The first left side street of Stijn Buysstraat (which you meet after some two hundred meters) is "Burghardt van den Berghstraat".
Groesbeek/Heilig Landstichting for Rozenhof .
The hotel is situated on the main road (N842) through Heilig Landstichting, which starts as Groesbeekseweg in Nijmegen and continues into Nijmeegsebaan.
Groesbeek for De Kentering (Dekkerswald)
The main entrance of Dekkerswald is located along the same road (N842) as Rozenhof (see above), but between Heilig Landstichting and Groesbeek (so farther away from Nijmegen). Enter the Dekkerswald area via the entrance gate and turn to the right at first cross-road (there are arrows indicating the direction for De Kentering). After some two hundred meters there is a T-junction, turn there to the left: you can see a flat-like building on your right hand side which has the name "De Kentering" above its entrance.

Recommended (free-)ways:
A52 (via Arnhem)
From the north, from Oberhausen (A12) or from Utrecht/Rotterdam (A12/A15) and heading for Nijmegen Centre. Following the main direction will lead you to Keizer Karelplein via Oranjesingel. At this traffic circle, take the exit Groesbeek/Malden/Mook to Heilig Landstichting/Groesbeek and turn left at the first cross-roads to enter Groesbeekseweg (direction: Groesbeek).
N52 (via Kleve)
From Germany and heading Heilig Landstichting/Groesbeek. Leave N52 at the exit Beek. For Heilig Landstichting turn left in Beek (direction Berg en Dal, uphill). In Berg en Dal turn left once more and then right (direction Heilig Landstichting). In Heilig Landstichting, you meet a small traffic circle. For Rozenhof, turn right (main road to Nijmegen); you can see it after a few hundred metres. For De Kentering at Dekkerswald turn left via the traffic circle (main road to Groesbeek); the exit "Dekkerswald" is indicated after 1.5 kilometer.
