For many years I have been an avid chess player. In 2000 I became an
international master and in 2012 I achieved the grandmaster title.
However, due to a lack of time I had to stop competitive chess.
One of the nice aspects of my chess career is that I got the chance
to discover quite a few places along the way. So far I travelled to the Netherlands,
Belgium, France, Germany, England, Ireland, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Andorra,
Switserland, Spain, Austria and the Dominican Republic to play chess tournaments.

Some career highlights:
1991 shared 2nd Dutch youth championship chess under 12  Den Haag
