Symmetries of Differential Equations and their Applications

Thursday, 25 September 2025, 12:30–13:30 in HG03.085

Abstract

Symmetry analysis provides a powerful framework for understanding and solving differential equations. This talk focuses on the systematic derivation of continuous symmetries and their use in reducing equations, leading to exact solutions. Additionally, we will show how symmetries give rise to conservation laws via Noether's theorem, highlighting the connection between invariance properties and conserved quantities in physical and mathematical systems. Illustrative examples demonstrate the practical power of symmetry methods.
