A group theoretic approach to combinatorial identities
I will describe how basic ideas from the representation theory of Lie groups may be applied to shed new light on several famous combinatorial identities from the theory of integer and plane partitions, allowing these identities to be generalised to infinite dimensional Lie algebras.
