Real spherical spaces

Abstract

Real spherical spaces constitute a very natural class of algebraic homogeneous spaces attached to a real reductive group. For example, it is the maximal class which allows a uniform treatment of Fourier analysis. In this talk I will try to explain why real spherical spaces are interesting from a geometric point of view.
