Commutativity in Equivariant Homotopy Theory via Homotopical Mackey Functors

Abstract

In homotopy theory, commutativity is typically understood up to coherent homotopies rather than as a strict algebraic property. When one studies spaces equipped with a group action, this notion of commutativity acquires additional structure related to the existence of transfer maps. In this talk, I will discuss what the right notion of commutativity in equivariant homotopy theory should be. In particular, I will explain how equivariant homotopical commutative monoids can be described in terms of a homotopical analogue of Mackey functors.
