Branching rules for quantum symmetric pairs

Abstract

A symmetric pair of Lie algebras consist of a semisimple Lie algebra together with a subalgebra of fixed points under an involutive automorphism. Quantum symmetric pairs, as introduced by Letzter and Kolb, provide a quantization of this pair of algebras in the form of a Drinfel'd-Jimbo quantum group and a subalgebra specializing to the classical universal enveloping algebras. In this talk I will introduce these notions. In the last part of this talk I will introduce the category of integrable modules for quantum symmetric pairs and will explain how they are related to their classical counterpart using a generalization of a multiplicity formula of Kostant. This talk is part of joint work with Stefan Kolb.
