Global transfer systems

Abstract

In this talk I will introduce global transfer systems. These are collections of pairs of groups that are closed under arbitrary group homomorphisms. I will describe how the partially ordered sets of global transfer systems relate to one another for different families of groups, and use this to compute all possible global transfer systems for finite abelian groups. The only background required for this talk is a basic familiarity with finite groups. Towards the end I will briefly mention how these global transfer systems parametrize certain kinds of structures in globally equivariant homotopy theory..
