On April 21, we are hosting a session of the Intercity Seminar Number Theory. We have a fantastic line-up: the speakers are Giuseppe Ancona, Yohan Brunebarbe, Lars Halle and Olivier Wittenberg. For the programme, abstracts and practical information, see the ICS website maintained by Bart de Smit.

This semester I'm running a Seminar on Perverse Sheaves and Applications. If you want to participate, let me know and I'll put you on the mailing list.

The 11th Belgian-Dutch Algebraic Geometry Day will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, in Amsterdam. At this event the Compositio Prize will be awarded. Lectures will be given by the authors of the nominated papers:┬áBhargav Bhatt (U Michigan), Dieter Kotschick (U München), Stefan Schreieder (U Bonn) and June Huh (Princeton U). The lectures are followed by the award of the prize to Bhargav Bhatt. Here is the programme.

From 9 till 12 November 2015, we had a wonderful conference at the Lorentz center to celebrate Frans Oort's 80th birthday. See also the Lorentz Center webpage, where you can also find some pictures taken at the conference. Some slides of the talks are available here.
