Symmetry on the interface of topology and higher algebra is a project funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) from 2025 to 2031 through an NWO Open Competition ENW-XL grant. It establishes a center of expertise for homotopy theory in the Netherlands. The principal investigators are based at Radboud University (Nijmegen), Utrecht University, and the VU Amsterdam.
The overall project is divided into nine interrelated subprojects, which will be carried out by the principal investigators together with the PhD candidates and postdocs funded by the ENW-XL grant. These subprojects investigate questions about manifold topology, topological Hochschild homology, and chromatic homotopy theory.
The kickoff meeting of this project will be on 31 October at Radboud University
As of September 2025, we welcome Bianca Carvalho de Oliveira, Karolis Dembickas, and Yash Jolly as new PhD candidates funded through this project.
The members of this project will usually meet at least once a month for the meetings of the Topology Intercity Seminar (see here for an archive of past talks).
