On 15 December, we are hosting the next meeting of the Belgian-Dutch Algebraic Geometry seminar. The speakers are Javier Fresán, Michael Groechenig and Johannes Nicaise. See the seminar website for more details.

On 21 October, I'm speaking at the N-cube days in Stockholm.

From 24-29 September, I'm attending the Oberwolfach Workshop Algebraic Geometry: Birational Classification, Derived Categories, and Moduli Spaces.

On Friday, July 7, Johan Commelin will defend this PhD thesis. The ceremony starts at 2.30pm. In the morning there are two lectures by Anna Cadoret and Rutger Noot. You can find more details on the programme here.

On April 21, we are hosting a session of the Intercity Seminar Number Theory. We have a fantastic line-up: the speakers are Giuseppe Ancona, Yohan Brunebarbe, Lars Halle and Olivier Wittenberg. For the programme, abstracts and practical information, see the ICS website maintained by Bart de Smit.

This semester I'm running a Seminar on Perverse Sheaves and Applications. If you want to participate, let me know and I'll put you on the mailing list.

We are very pleased to have Arne Smeets in our group as of this academic year!
The 11th Belgian-Dutch Algebraic Geometry Day will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, in Amsterdam. At this event the Compositio Prize will be awarded. Lectures will be given by the authors of the nominated papers: Bhargav Bhatt (U Michigan), Dieter Kotschick (U München), Stefan Schreieder (U Bonn) and June Huh (Princeton U). The lectures are followed by the award of the prize to Bhargav Bhatt. Here is the programme.

The 10th edition of the Belgian-Dutch Algebraic Geometry seminar, organized by Nero Budur, Bas Edixhoven, Johannes Nicaise, Lenny Taelman and myself, took place on 22 April, 2016 in Leuven.

This semester we're having an Intercity Seminar Algebraic Geometry again. The topic is Buskin's recent result about Hodge isometries between K3 surfaces. Lenny Taelman has a webpage with the programme.

From 9 till 12 November 2015, we had a wonderful conference at the Lorentz center to celebrate Frans Oort's 80th birthday. See also the Lorentz Center webpage, where you can also find some pictures taken at the conference. Some slides of the talks are available here.
